The surface temperature rarely exceeds 69-70°F (even in the summer), meaning the water is much colder at depth, ranging in the 60s. This requires wearing thicker wetsuits, gloves, boots, and hoods, as well as additional weight to counteract the buoyancy of the neoprene. Visibility can also be limited, requiring a keen awareness of your surroundings and ability to navigate underwater.

Training in this environment is the perfect preparation for diving almost anywhere in the world. You’ll become proficient in understanding buddy procedures, improving underwater navigation, and building your confidence in challenging conditions.

What if I only want to dive in Tropical Environments?

For those who plan to dive exclusively in warmer waters, our Referral Course might be the right option for you. This allows you to complete the eLearning and pool training with us at DiVE KS, and then finish your certification at a PADI dive center of your choice—whether you're headed to Dive the Florida Keys or another tropical destination. The Referral Course maximizes your vacation time by allowing you to dive right into the open water portion of your training. You’ll receive high-quality training with us to build and master your skills, and it allows for more time diving and in the water on Vacation. You can also join our group trips to continue your training with DiVE KS.
